The Dollar Meltdown

Charles Goyette had a morning radio show in Phoenix, AZ a few years ago. I listened to him as I drove to work. Learned a lot about the coming financial mess, as the housing bubble was exploding and people were standing in line to get a chance to bid up the price of homes!! Charles had guests who clarified what the experts should have known.

This book is extremely well written in a way that is understandable to the average person. You do not need to be an accountant or financial wizard to understand the historical background or how this country got into this mess.

I have not finished reading, but I will soon. I recommend this to anyone who is the least bit interested in the economy.

An Excellent book. Well written, concise and clearly factual on the events that led to the current economic crisis. It becomes obvious that our leaders living in the DC balloon of ignorance should all try to get educated on financial issues and basic economics before making rules and laws which they don't understand but the population does who lives with the consequences. Goyette is an excellent writer and provides positive suggestions on how to protect whatever funds you have left after the financial devastation caused by our government and Wall street. Following the good recommendations of this book will help most people. One of the best reads for the money. G Hiebert

If you believe that Wallstreet operates on the true principles of capitalism, or there is a difference between the Democrat or Republican partys, or a consumption based society - this book isn't for you. Go into hock and buy a huge house, put your federal reserve notes towards your 401k. Stay plugged into the real "Matrix" and as a consumer, be consumed.

If you do not believe the notions above, or have doubts, you will find this book quite enlightening and informative. Don't wait too long to read this though.

Amazing

This book really does open us to forgiveness--and this author has the right to speak on forgiving. Her abuse was far beyond anything most of us will ever encounter, yet she still takes the step to transform her world, and moves into forgiveness. Real forgiveness, the kind that comes from struggle and growth, not covering over the hurt with platitudes and pretending.

Many of my patients have experienced horrendous abuse as well, and I recommend this book often. They relate. But more powerful than simply showing that you can survive abuse, the author shows how un-forgiveness stops growth and keeps us stuck. She shares real stories, real struggles, and shows how forgiveness transformed her life. She shares how forgiveness transformed the lives of others. Most of all, she gives hope that forgiveness is possible even for you. Even when the pain is deep, and the hurt is real. She shows you how to leave it behind--and "soar!".

One of the best books--honestly, perhaps the best book--on forgiveness that I've ever read.

Powerful and Uplifting

This is one of those books that grabs you from the start, but in this case, I wanted it to let me go! The author opens with a story of abuse from her childhood that was so sad and real that wanted to jump up and help. Thankfully relief comes quickly as she moves along and shares the way God showed up in her life and changed everything...inside her. The theme: Forgiveness (no matter what) is Possible. Kitty Chappell has modeled this as she forgave her horribly abusive father. She reminds people that forgiving doesn't mean condoning and that the one who benefits most is the forgiver. Buyer beware - Indian Version, not International Version

Technically, this is the same content as the American version, but it's not. It's the India version, not a true "international" version. To me, this is mislabeled. An international version is the American version, in paperback, and using the world business currency (US dollars).

If you can put up with everything being in Indian Rupee's, the concepts/strategies will still be the same. For me, I bought it for a class thinking it was just a paperback version of the book. This is incorrect. The page numbers and problems are all different.

TL;DR - If you're an American trying to save some money on an expensive text book, look elsewhere.

Great book for class or overall knowledge on this subject.

This book is extremely knowledgable, in fact my professor teaches every lesson out of it. It is very detailed and as helpful as it gets for a topic this detailed and hard. It has plenty of practice problems with a solutions book that can be bought on Amazon or found online if you search hard enough. I decided to rent this book as it is pretty costly if you decide to buy it, some $300..

A Must Have for any Risk Manager's Library

One cannot fully understand the quantitative aspects of risk management without having this book in your reference library. It's thorough, easy to read and has all the necessary mathematics for reproduce the risk measures, pricing and valuation for most exchange traded securities out there. I fails only in the introduction to cover the requisite history of risk management but that's not so important for the work. I particuarly like the Merton model descriptions for pricing corporate bonds, the options pricing methods because it makes binomial pricing for options really easy to program yourself. This is one book you need in your library and also one you must read too.

Have bought these books for several years.

I have purchased and recorded Hallmark recordable storybooks for several years for my grandsons who do not live nearby. The boys have loved them and listen to them both with their parents and by themselves. We've never had any issues with the recordings. The books lay flat and the boys can lie on the floor to listen to them. It really helps me feel more connected to them. This story is short and simple and just right for my 3 year old grandson.
