About the Author
As a speaker for women's groups for 22 years, Kitty Chappell realized that many women struggle with forgiveness. "They don't know how to get beyond their pain and progress to the point where they can forgive." Kitty shared her own horrific story and subsequent triumph with listeners, and was repeatedly asked, "Have you written a book on this?" Sins of a Father was born out of that demand. Kitty Chappell has also contributed to numerous periodicals. She makes her home in Gilbert, Arizona, with her husband, Jerry.

Amazing

This book really does open us to forgiveness--and this author has the right to speak on forgiving. Her abuse was far beyond anything most of us will ever encounter, yet she still takes the step to transform her world, and moves into forgiveness. Real forgiveness, the kind that comes from struggle and growth, not covering over the hurt with platitudes and pretending.
Many of my patients have experienced horrendous abuse as well, and I recommend this book often. They relate. But more powerful than simply showing that you can survive abuse, the author shows how un-forgiveness stops growth and keeps us stuck. She shares real stories, real struggles, and shows how forgiveness transformed her life. She shares how forgiveness transformed the lives of others. Most of all, she gives hope that forgiveness is possible even for you. Even when the pain is deep, and the hurt is real. She shows you how to leave it behind--and "soar!".
One of the best books--honestly, perhaps the best book--on forgiveness that I've ever read.

Powerful and Uplifting

This is one of those books that grabs you from the start, but in this case, I wanted it to let me go! The author opens with a story of abuse from her childhood that was so sad and real that wanted to jump up and help. Thankfully relief comes quickly as she moves along and shares the way God showed up in her life and changed everything...inside her. The theme: Forgiveness (no matter what) is Possible. Kitty Chappell has modeled this as she forgave her horribly abusive father. She reminds people that forgiving doesn't mean condoning and that the one who benefits most is the forgiver.
